In a world turned upside down by a pandemic and a nation dealing with racial tension, unrest, and violence; TEDxKids@ElCajon and the students taking the stage this year are a beacon of hope and perhaps light that can illuminate a better path forward. This year’s theme is “My Possible Future Self”. The student talks were pre-recorded on stage in the theatre where they were scheduled to perform live back on May 2nd. The kids and their coaches worked too hard not to let the show go on. Organizers Jenn Petraglia, Howard Shen, and Tamara Otero worked with several Cajon Valley Employees to make it happen this year virtually.
COVID or no COVID, nothing was going to stop the Cajon Valley Union School District from putting on it’s annual TEDxKids@ElCajon, an event that brings together kids, youth, educators, and the community for live presentations, hands-on activities, and storytelling that encourage learning about and experiencing the world in new and different ways.
TEDxKids@ElCajon is a culminating event where students from all 27 schools in the district bring the community together to celebrate “Ideas Worth Spreading” to improve the human condition both locally and globally. TED-Ed Presentation Literacy is one component of Cajon Valley’s suite of Modern Curriculum aimed at its vision “Happy Kids, Engaged in Healthy Relationships, On a Path to Gainful Employment”.
